People don't realize you can forgive

When I saw this, it brought back so many memories of the man I loved, and lost to brain cancer.  He hadn’t spoken to his daughter for over ten years when he was told he had 2 to 5 years to live.  He always said he never wanted to speak to her again.  It’s not that he couldn’t forgive the pain she had caused him for so many years ….. it was because he finally decided to put himself first.  He was dealing with a life-ending disease and made the decision to end his life peacefully and with those who loved and cared about him.

He was one of the strongest men I knew, who would do anything to protect and cherish his family and friends.

But when death was looking him in the face, he finally — at long last — put himself first.
