PTSD: When the Simplest Things Make For a Traumatic Day

This is for the many who suffer with PTSD from abuses and those who do not understand the emotional reactions that are triggered by PTSD. We never know what little thing will trigger an emotional response… till we are in a panic with tears. These triggers are real and though not understood by others, flashbacks of traumas cause these heightened  episodes of stress and fear that appear to others out of the range of normal responses… unless they have walked in the shoes of an abuse victim. When the simplest thingsmake for a traumatic day.And what should bring joybrings fear and stress your way. When special events comethat you have waited so long. But someone shows up whomakes it all go wrong. For traumas of our pastwith its resultant PTSD…get triggered with little thingsthat most don’t even see.A flashback of memoriesor a mean word spoken in haste…make what should be pleasantseem like a terrible waste. For victims get woundedby words and acts of man.And PTSD gets triggeredin ways many don’t understand. For what should be excitingbrings back memories with fears…and our anxiety heightenswith a flood of panic and tears. And this recurrent PTSDis so very real…which many abuse victims sufferbut God really does heal.So Lord we call out Youto please heal us all today…so we can overcome our pastand PTSD will not be triggered this way.
